Embedded Memory Security Unit for Automotive Test Systems is a research project supported by the Austrian Research Promotion Agency (FFG).
The program code as well as data stored in memories of modern ICT-based manufacturing systems constitute significant assets. The goal of MEMSEC is to research a hardware memory security unit that transparently performs low-latency memory encryption. An additional goal is to include mechanisms in the unit that support
external authentication and allow re-using the memory encryption to also secure communication. The planned final result of MEMSEC is a demonstrator that integrates an FPGA implementation of the memory security unit into an automotive test system of AVL.
